This is celebrated on La Antilla beach. Bonfires are lit throughout the night and people jump over them hoping that their wishes be granted as they jump.
Antilla Riad is a modern and original tourist accommodation that offers its guests fully equipped facilities for maximum satisfaction while staying in our establishment. It has an excellent location on the seafront promenade of La Antilla at hardly 30 yards for THE BEACH. Its architecture and decoration make it the ideal place for relaxing and resting during prolonged stays. The 9 lodgings around a central patio in the style of the Arab Riads make up the establishment.
It stretches from the end of La Antilla on the east side up to where the nudist beach of Nueva Umbría begins. On this beach you can enjoy, apart from the infrastructure of its nearest town centre, La Antilla, the peace that you find thanks to its remoteness from the summer turmoil and the tranquillity of families searching for a joyous day at the beach. Nestled between the sea and the dunes, it is the perfect spot to enjoy reading or lose yourself in the sound of the waves while breathing the pure air of the natural site Marismas del Río y Flecha de Nueva Umbría. Without any doubt a paradisical site.
Lepe’s tourist hub par excellence. Its upturn took place with the tourist boom of the sixties. La Antilla, Lepe’s main beach, less than 3 miles from the town, was transformed into a big area along the sea with almost 2 miles of fine, golden sandy beaches. With more than 3,000 hours of sun per year and its pleasant climate it is the ideal place to enjoy your holiday in the south of Andalusia. Thanks to the perfect condition of the beaches, the quality of the water and its fine sands, along with the extensive range of services in terms of cleanliness, safety, surveillance, health and tourist and environmental information, it has been acknowledged as a beach with the distinctions Q for Tourist Quality, Ecoplayas, SICTED Certificate – Integrated Quality Assurance System for Spanish Tourist Quality for Holiday Destinations” and Universal Accessibility Certificate”. This beach preserves the family touch it has always had, although it is true that the tourist infrastructures it includes (residential areas, small hotels and guest houses, beach services...) increasingly transform it into a hallmark for national and international tourism. In La Antilla we find the fisherman shanty town, a quarter strongly tied to the sea that has resisted developed tourism and maintained its traditional character and its deep-rooted customs. Nowadays, its boats keep on working in the sand of the same beach, surrounded by nets and fishing tools.
It regards a humble and charming one storey chapel on the Atlantic shores where the residents worship the patron saint of the seafarers, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The figure is taken out in a procession, borne by the residents on 16 July and is carried around on a modest barge on the waters of the Lepe coast.
