Declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1985. This architectural element is a clear example of the rise of the Mudejar style architecture in the province from the second half of the 14th to the 16th century and its later resurgence in the 19th century. It regards a window divided by a mullion which supports two basket arches framed by tiling. It was integrated in the façade of the building known as “Casa Grande” in the Calle Oria Castañeda which belonged to a high ranking council member or a wealthy merchant of the town, judging from its large surface and its proximity to the emblematic buildings. This is the only element of the old building that survived.
At the end of the 19th century it was transformed into a tenement house until it was purchased by the Town Council and demolished in order to build the cultural centre. The ajimez was installed in the façade of the library, where it can be contemplated in its fully restored state.
