La Antilla Beach

Lepe’s tourist hub par excellence. Its upturn took place with the tourist boom of the sixties. La Antilla, Lepe’s main beach, less than 3 miles from the town, was transformed into a big area along the sea with almost 2 miles of fine, golden sandy beaches. This beach preserves the family touch it has always had, although it is true that the tourist infrastructures it includes (residential areas, small hotels and guest houses, beach services...) increasingly transform it into a hallmark for national and international tourism. In La Antilla we find the fisherman shanty town, a quarter strongly tied to the sea that has resisted developed tourism and maintained its traditional character and its deep-rooted customs. Nowadays, its boats keep on working in the sand of the same beach, surrounded by nets and fishing tools.
