Cultural Tourism
Lepe has an important cultural heritage that reflects its long history and tradition. The city's rich architectural heritage largely disappeared due to the Lisbon earthquake of 1755. The town was ruined, the castle, the town hall, the hermitages, the church steeples, and the neighbors' dwellings suffered major damages. The buildings were reconstructed or rebuilt under the architectural styles of the 18th and 19th centuries, where Mudejar and Baroque forms coexist with elements that prelude the Neoclassic.
The Festivals and Traditions offer visitors unique experiences that connect with our past, but Lepe also organizes cultural activities such as exhibitions, theater, concerts and even an International Film Festival, Under the Moon.
