This Zampuzo was founded in 1932 and has been in our family for three generations. It owes its curious name to a funny child anecdote. The uncle of the present manager, when he was still a child, was called Ratilla (little rat) by the priest of the village, because he was very thin, low and mischievous. This became his nick name later on and endured until today, giving the establishment its name. Actually, this name was given from the second generation onwards, because when this zampuzo was established it was commonly known by the name Arroz con papa (rice with potato), the nick name of the original barkeeper. Nowadays, Roque, inhabitant of Lepe, manages this pub, located in Calle Isla Cristina, with the help of his wife. He takes it upon himself to make the wine throughout its process and his wife often prepares dishes or a variety of tapas to offer its guests. Regarding his wines, he offers the grape must of previous and new harvests. The latter can be savoured beginning December.
